NEW YORK – On Monday, the campaign announced former New York Attorney General Dennis C. Vacco’s endorsement of former federal prosecutor Saritha Komatireddy to be the state’s next Attorney General.

In a letter released to Republican leaders in New York, Vacco, the last Republican Attorney General in the state of New York, highlighted Komatireddy’s credentials as a no-nonsense prosecutor who will put the safety and security of New York first.

“Saritha is a respected former prosecutor, national security expert, and public servant, with a career devoted to upholding the rule of law and protecting Americans. Prior to becoming a prosecutor, Saritha served as a judicial law clerk for conservative Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh,” Vacco wrote in part. “For over 12 years thereafter, she served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Department of Justice, locking up members of Al-Qaeda, ISIS, Mexican drug cartels, and even the scammer who defrauded several New York professional hockey legends. And while there is no formal ranking of “top prosecutor” at the Department of Justice, Saritha earned three Attorney General’s Awards, two Prosecutor of The Year Awards, and two True American Hero Awards, which is unprecedented. She also served as Chief of Staff at the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).”

In response to Vacco’s endorsement, Komatireddy released the following statement: “As the last Republican Attorney General, Dennis personally argued before the Supreme Court and won 9-0 for the people of New York. I am deeply humbled to have his endorsement as I seek to return that level of professionalism and excellence to the NY AG’s office, in order to ensure the safety of all New Yorkers.”
