NEW YORK – New York State attorney general candidate Saritha Komatireddy, a former top federal prosecutor who has taken on Al-Qaeda, ISIS, and the Mexican drug cartels, today blasted incumbent attorney general, Letitia James, for doing nothing while the 13th New Yorker, a 63-year-old man, was pushed onto subway tracks this week. The incident marks the 13th New York City subway pushing so far this year.

“A 63-year-old man was pushed onto the subway tracks in Queens by a man who skipped the fare,” Komatireddy said. “That’s 13. Thirteen New Yorkers have been pushed onto the subway tracks this year. And it’s because our Attorney General and the district attorneys in the five boroughs fail to enforce the laws.”

Ms. Komatireddy noted that crime under Letitia James’s tenure as attorney general is up 26%, homelessness is up 38%, and having repeat offenders, mentally ill individuals, and drug addicted individuals on our streets has become the norm.

“More than four million New Yorkers take the subway every day, and every single one of them thinks the same thing every morning: ‘Stay away from the platform; someone might push me onto the tracks.’ It’s ridiculous—we don’t have to live this way. We all pay enough in taxes and enough in fares, we deserve to feel safe.” Komatireddy said.
