NEW YORK — Following the news that Letitia James is demanding that NYU Langone Health resume gender-related care for minors, Saritha Komatireddy, candidate for New York Attorney General, released the following statement:
“The Supreme Court ruled just last year that restricting sex change procedures for children is not discrimination. And it reiterated just this week that it’s not up to the government to impose these measures on children, which is why it put a stop to California’s attempt to secretly facilitate sex changes in school without telling parents at all.
“But our New York Attorney General has decided to disregard the law, disregard what most parents and New Yorkers want, and force her radical left-wing ideology onto NYU Langone to require the doctors there to conduct sex changes on children.
“People, especially parents, across the political spectrum and across ethnic and religious backgrounds are against the state forcing these experimental and irreversible procedures on children. That’s why a growing number of states are restricting sex changes on children. Instead of allowing left-wing politicians to force an extreme ideology onto New Yorkers, we should be entrusting medical decisions to the doctors, nurses, hospitals, and parents best-positioned to make those decisions.
“Meanwhile, under Letitia James’s watch, crime is up 26%, drug deaths are up 63%, and antisemitic incidents are up 234%. When it comes to hospitals in particular, assaults in NYC hospitals are up 46%.
“As Attorney General, I will put a stop to this nonsense. New York needs a prosecutor as Attorney General who is focused on ensuring that our cities, our streets, and our hospitals are safe and free of crime. Not a career politician focused on advancing an extreme ideology at the expense of New Yorkers.”
