NEW YORK – Immigrants, like every other New Yorker, want to live in safe communities. As a federal prosecutor, I prosecuted illegal reentry cases against criminals who had committed rape, robbery, and murder. I did so under more than 10 U.S. attorneys and presidents of both parties because every common-sense American agrees that we should use every tool at our disposal to remove violent criminals from our communities. The bill passed by the New York Legislature yesterday makes this harder and makes New York less safe.
