Statement on Buffalo Mental Health Crisis Incident

Untreated mental illness continues to put everyday New Yorkers and law enforcement officers at risk. This is at least the second such incident in Buffalo this year — on March 5, a man having a mental health crisis charged at police while holding two knives. 

We need to build residential psych treatment facilities, use our involuntary commitment laws, and get people the help they need.

The AG can do that.
